Summer School of Law 2022 – Experiences and Participantsetnja škola prava 2022. godine – iskustva i polaznici

VP Law Firm and the Students’ Association for International Co-operation organised the second annual Summer School of Law, where law students were able to gain practical knowledge in real estate, leasing, insurance, collection, business incorporation, and labour law. From 11 to 15 July 2022, the students shared their passion for law and the legal profession and learned by working alongside practising lawyers.

Applications for the 2022 Summer School of Law were open from 15 to 30 June 2002. Many law students applied, wishing to spend part of their summer immersed in the new knowledge and practical work the Summer School offered. This year’s participants were Danka Guskić, Petar Milošević, Anđela Ivanović, Uroš Kostić, Snježana Savić, and Sara Belanović. These six spent five days with Vuković and Partners staff and met 2021 winners who visited on the first day to talk about their experiences, as well as our associates from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro. The participants visited our clients Sava Osiguranje, ODM Collections, and Stadion shopping mall and learned about their operations.

I’m a difficult girl to impress, but this has really left me speechless… Firstly, the law firm staff were all very open and good-natured. Every day brought a new experience. They were so wonderful and kind that I was lost for words. The time just flew by. We were talking the other day how we weren’t tired at all after the summer school even though we had to get up at 8 in the morning and stayed there until 4 pm, and this means we enjoyed it and we were never bored. Secondly, we all got to know one another very well. We’re all happy because of that’, said one of the participants of her experiences. Another student told us his impressions: „It was a wonderful experience and it’s something we need at uni, from practical skills to networking with our fellow students. This may be the best thing that’s happened to me at uni so far’.

The first day’s lecture was delivered by Predrag Stojanovski, Attorney at Law with our Real Estate Department, who spoke about purchasing and developing land. On the second day, Attorney at Law Miloš Marinković explained the theory and practice of leasing agreements, followed by attorneys Aleksandra Kozić and Selena Gojković, whose topic was insurance companies. Wednesday 13 July was devoted to collection practices, with a presentation from Kristina Jovanović, Attorney at Law at the Banking and Finance Department. The fourth day was set aside for a lecture by the Corporate Law Department, delivered by Attorney at Law Igor Joksović. On the closing day, Senior Intern Nikolina Dubroja gave a presentation on mobbing from the perspective of labour law.

This year’s Summer School ended with a party where experiences were exchanged and the participants received attendance certificates. Invigorated and made richer by their new skills and friendships, the students left our office – but not before promising to meet us again on one of our future projects.
