Conference looks at managing, collecting, and purchasing Serbian NPLs

On 13 October 2022, the Corporate Legal Counsel Association of Serbia and ODM Collections hosted a conference on managing, collecting, and purchasing non-performing loans (NPLs) in the Serbian market. The event was attended by heads of legal and financial departments at major Serbian companies.

The conference included a panel discussion with Vesna Lečić, Head of Controllling at MK Group, and Miljan Macanović, Head of Legal at the same firm, Dejan Vuković, Managing Partner at VP Law, and Marin Gligo, CEO of ODM Collections. The panel was moderated by Sandra Rodić, who heads the technical support team for E-Commerce Development Programme and Action Plan, an initiative launched by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The panellists focused on the distinction between receivables purchasing and factoring, the internal treatment of NPLs by businesses, options available to firms facing delays in payment – whether to seek collection or sell accounts receivable – and the legal implications during and after the sale of accounts receivable.

The event attracted much interest, with attendees actively participating in the discussion and posing a wide variety of questions based on their own experiences.
