Dejan Vuković speaks at panel organised by Montenegro Chamber of Commerce

On 10 May 2023, ODM Collections and the Montenegro Chamber of Commerce organised a conference on successfully managing commercial distressed debt.

The event included a panel discussion with Dražen Stevanović, CEO of ODM Collections, Dejan Vuković, Managing Partner at VP Law, Ana Milović, Head of Accounting, Treasury, and Client Finance at Crnogorski Telekom, and Nikola Bošković, Head of Risk and Collection at Addiko Bank. The discussion was moderated by Vasilisa Pejović, Independent Legal Practitioner working with VP Law.

The panel focused on selling and servicing distressed debt, as well as the tax aspects and reputational risk associated with such assets. The participants also highlighted the importance of communication, monitoring, and operational activities with operators/servicers and debt purchasers, as well as the key misconceptions that occur in practice. The discussion also touched on aspects to consider when choosing whether to manage one’s own distressed assets in-house or engage professional management companies, as well as the legal effects and tax treatment of assigning accounts receivable.

We were pleased to see the conference attended by more than 70 representatives of government bodies, businesses, banks, and insurance companies, including the Montenegro Investment and Development Fund, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore, the Central Bank of Montenegro, Crnogorska Komercijalna Banka, NLB Banka, Sava Osiguranje, Generali Osiguranje, and many others.
