Višnja Mandić takes part in panel discussion at founding conference of Bankruptcy Law Association
The Bankruptcy Law Association held its founding conference on 1 and 2 June 2023 at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event was opened by Vuk Radović, Professor of Law at the University of Belgrade faculty of Law and founding member of the Association, who spoke about the challenges facing the Serbian community of commercial law practitioners.
Višnja Mandić, Partner Attorney at Law with VP’s Bankruptcy and Restructuring Department, took part in a thought-provoking panel discussion devoted to the assignment of claims in bankruptcy proceedings. She focused on due diligence by assignees, the implementation of the Bankruptcy Law in force from 2014 to 2017, and the consequences of assignment following the main distribution of the bankruptcy estate, as well as broader issues with the assignment of claims in bankruptcy.
The panel was moderated by Dr Mihajlo Živković, consultant for the Serbian Government, and also included Duška Ilić, President of the Kraljevo Commercial Court, and Ivan Marić, Secretary General of the Association of Serbian Debt Management Companies (AKUPS).
The conference was attended by top experts in bankruptcy law and related legal fields, researchers, members of the judiciary, lawyers, businesspeople, and civil servants. The introductory session, which discussed broader insolvency-related concepts, was followed by a series of roundtables with bankruptcy administrators, commercial court judges, and lawyers, that were devoted to practical issues of bankruptcy law.
