VP Law Firm Takes Part in National ELSACASE Competition

VP Law Firm has been taking part in the national ELSACASE corporate law competition, organised by the Serbian chapter of the European Law Students’ Association (ELSA).

Our lawyers are playing crucial parts as mentors for three teams made up of final year law students. The Belgrade ELSA team is being guided by our attorney-at-law Kristina Jovanović and trainee lawyer Anastasija Lukovac, whereas attorney-at-law Marina Šorak and trainee lawyer Teodora are mentoring the team of the Kragujevac ELSA section. Lastly, attorney-at-law Selena Gojković and trainee lawyer Rastko Jovanović are mentors for the Belgrade University Faculty of Law team. All the teams and their mentors will have to grapple with challenging issues of corporate law.

The first of the three stages of the competition took place on 1 December 2023 at Belgrade University Faculty of Law. After one month of mentoring and preparations, the five teams presented a case study involving the incorporation of an insurance company. The teams were able to successfully respond to multiple assignments and negotiate a number of hurdles, presenting the audience with a set of varied legal solutions.

The presentations were followed by questions from the judges’ panel, comprised of Jovana Čapaković, senior partner and attorney at law with VP Law Firm, Dragana Ljubojević, associate attorney at law with Vasiljević Legal, and Kristina Jevtić, teaching assistant in Corporate Law at Belgrade University Faculty of Law. The judges scored all teams after the presentations ended.

The upcoming second part of the competition will be held in March 2024 in Niš, where the local ELSA Niš chapter will host all teams and organisers of the national event. The topics for this stage are yet to be announced.

The final third stage is planned for May 2024 and will take place as part of Lawyers at Work, a job fair hosted by Belgrade University Faculty of Law. The team with the highest overall score across the three stages will win the competition and receive valuable prizes: a paid trip for team members and the offer of paid internships at VP Law Firm.

We are proud to be part of a competition that offers an opportunity both for young lawyers to grow and for us to share our expertise in a wide variety of areas.
